This weekend was just Mike and I, we headed up to Pfeiffer as usual and chose a site under the trees.
I always love walking and hiking around in the forested areas, seeing the river, the ocean. What I wouldn't give to live somewhere like this. I never get tired of visiting.
We had just purchased some new minimalist trail shoes, his, New Balance and mine, Merrell. LOVE THEM. For me, I can't believe how comfortable these are even when they're wet, I've never gotten a blister, and I definitely would recommend them to anyone looking for a good trail shoe.
We went on a banana slug hunt. Successful.
Again, as we love to do, we headed up to Monterey. We stopped to admire the Bixby Canyon Bridge.
We parked on a random street to avoid costs. Walking a few miles to the aquarium, we decided to take a new route and visit the wharf. We accidentally ended up participating in a Walk for Alzheimer's that was going on.
We could hear the gulls, the seals barking in the distance, the fishy smell of a wharf. I loved that it was overcast, it gave it such an awesome feel.
What can I say? We're aquarium addicts. They had their bomb jelly exhibit up, my favorite.
On our walk back, the sunset made the view even more gorgeous.
On our way back home, we stopped at McWay Falls in Pfeiffer State Park to admire the site of an old stone "waterfall house", owned by Lathrop and Helen Hooper Brown in the 1940s. What an enviable view. Someone had written in the sand a proposal and we walked up on it. So cute.
We also stopped in San Simeon to say hello to the funny elephant seals.
Until next time, Big Sur...and as always, there will be a next time.
